Paramount Support Services (PSS) as a sister agency of Paramount Youth Services, was established to address the growing need to access NDIS packages for children and young people in Out of Home Care placements. Based on recommendations from the Department of Community and Justice and other NGOs, as well as parents/guardians of children in our care who are NDIS participants, we have expanded to become a registered NDIS provider under Paramount Support Services. As a registered NDIS Specialised Substitute Residential Care (SSRC) provider, formerly known as Voluntary Out of Home Care (VOOHC), PSS provides overnight care for children aged 7 to 17 away from their usual home. This care arrangement can be a one-off emergency arrangement or involve frequent or long-term care. The duration of care is for 3 or more nights in any 7-day period and is funded by the NDIS for respite or behaviour support. We offer various services under the SSRC program, including Short- and Medium-Term Accommodation, as well as supports for children in Out-of-Home Care. We are also registered to deliver Core and Capacity Building Supports to children and youth 0 to 17 years of age. Majority of children/Young people SSRC services are also NDIS participants so there is a demand for services to have a dual focus/understanding of both the Child Safe practices and the NDIS practice standards. Our staff is trained in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention approaches/care (TCI) and we have knowledgeable and experienced personnel.
Our personal and professional values are synonymous with the social-based model of NDIS that calls for the social inclusion of people with a disability, eliminating stigma, discrimination, and oppression grounded in principles of social justice and human rights advancement. As a social worker, the founder is determined to be an agent for social change. We, therefore, believe we have the necessary experience, skills, and academic discipline to develop and lead a team that promotes the empowerment, autonomy, and liberation of people with a disability. As an NDIS provider, we are committed to delivering a service that is person-centred and strengths-based allowing participants to exercise their right to informed choice and control of their lives.
Our responsibility rests with acknowledging that NDIS participants have the capacity to determine their own best interests and make informed choices as they are the experts in their own lives. Our support services will therefore aim to work with participants to maintain and enhance optimal health and wellbeing through active engagement in the community, and different aspects of participants lives including but not limited to education, employment, health and lifestyle, and recreational activities, consequently facilitating greater community inclusion for children and young people with a disability. Paramount Support Services, therefore, endeavours to enable participants to maximise their choice and control over these decisions that will affect their lives and encourage participants to continually develop their capacity to make informed and independent decisions whilst recognising and respecting the role of their families, carers, or any other significant figures in their lives.
Our entire workforce and personnel are therefore carefully recruited to match the needs of our participants. We embrace and welcome an inclusive and diverse work environment that is client-centred and objective. We are committed to supporting our participants to reach their full potential and to live fulfilling lives. To achieve this, we ensure that our personnel have industry-standard qualifications, probity clearances, exceptional knowledge, skills, behaviour, and experience, are genuine and caring individuals, and are dedicated to ensuring that the safety, welfare, and well-being of participants under our service is always protected. The safety, welfare, and well-being of the children and young people who are receiving our services are paramount which are strongly embedded in our leadership, governance, and culture. Paramount Support Services’ mission and values promote a stable person-centred organisation that ensures the rights of children and young people living with a disability are protected.
Overall, our comprehensive policies and procedures incorporate the rights and responsibilities of participants regarding individual values and beliefs, privacy and dignity, independence and informed choice, and the right to a service delivery that is safe, free from violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation, and discrimination. Paramount Support Services further mandates professional business ethics and practices that cover assessment and planning, risk management, dispute resolution, legal and statutory compliance, safety and quality integration, continuous improvement, supervision, mentoring, audit control, and the training of personnel as per Paramount’s code of conduct.
